A Strange Deliberation

Sometimes, out of nowhere,

the thought crosses my mind

that one day my heart will stop beating.

My blood will stop flowing,

my bones and muscles will cease all movement,

and my skin will grow cold, cold, cold.

And I wonder how it will happen.

I wonder what force will be stronger

than my human body

or my will to live.

And I wonder whose hands

will be the last to touch my physical form.
